I am giving a talk in church this week...

I was asked to talk in church this week. Usually you get 3 weeks notice to prepare, someone canceled, so I get one week notice. No big deal! I was asked to talk on Adversity, and basically to give the wives of deployed soldiers a pep talk and how to get through a deployment. Then Bro. May said I thought you would do well with this subject because you seem to be doing so great during this deployment. It is funny how in my head I was thinking hahahaha are you kidding me? Anyways. That is why I have been posting thoughts about Adversity. I think the only way to get through adversity, a deployment, or any trial you are facing in your lives.....is through serving others. At first it may seem just the opposite. In a crazy busy life, where you hardly have time to think...stopping to think about someone else, and help them. It is the only way for me to get through a deployment. When I focus on me, it just turns into a big pity party. I like how this thought below says angels will bear you up, and that those angels are sometimes just the people around us that ...that take the time....and listen to the spirit & promptings. Like when for no reason at all I can't get a lady in our ward off my mind, and I keep thinking I should drop by or give her a call. THERE is a reason for that. Listen to the spirit. Lets be there for one another...you never know when your five minute call, or your smile, or your card, or your five minute visit will make someone's day.

We all face dangers and hardships in our lives, but there will be angels round about you, to bear you up ( Doctrine & Covenants 84:88). They will sustain us as we carry our earthly burdens. Often in our lives, those angels are the people around us, the people who love us, those who allow themselves to be instruments in the Lord's hands.

President Spencer W. Kimball said, 'God does notice us, and he watches over us. But it is usually through another person that he meets our needs. Therefore, it is vital that we serve each other in the kingdom.

so, you pretty much posted an awesome sacrament talk on your blog! adversity is a great topic. because that is what life is all about . . . tough times. how you handle them is the key to happiness. stay spiritually strong so when those rough days come upon you, you have the Lord's help to sustain you through the storm.

Looks like you're all prepped and ready to go. Your talk reminds me of one of my classic favorite songs, "Angels Among Us" by Alabama. Can you quote a country song in a sacrament meeting?
