We all could express a little more gratitude...

"Gratitude is a mark of a noble soul and a refined character. We like
to be around those who are grateful. They tend to brighten all around them.
They make others feel better about themselves. They tend to be more humble,
more joyful, more likable."

(Joseph B. Wirthlin, "Live in Thanksgiving Daily," Ensign, Sept. 2001, 8)

I am thankful everyday for the strength that the gospel gives me, and everyday it is for a different reason I am thankful. Maybe today I am thankful because my testimony of the gospel gives me strength when I am lonely for Pres. Maybe yesterday I was thankful for the gospel because it teaches me how to raise my boys to be future missionaries and amazing husbands. I am thankful for the knowledge that I will see my dad again, and that he is happy where he is now....that gives me the strength to be happy even though I miss him every second of every day. Like mom said, we have to be happy so that Dad can stop worrying about us and get to work. I know Dad is so happy to not be hindered by his earthly body anymore. It just wasn't the Dad I knew my entire life to be sitting in that hospital bed. Another quick quote that I have on my fridge that goes right along with being thankful...happiness is a choice we make....not what others are doing around us. We make the choice every day to be happy or not. Mom put that quote on my fridge when her and Ginger came out to Kansas to cheer me up after Preston left. It has been there ever since. I look at it every day, and sometimes I need to read it 10 times a day when my day isn't going just like I planned it....but that is okay. I still choose to be happy. :)

If we wrote down all the things in our lives that we are truly thankful for . . . we would never finish. But when we ponder all the good things in our lives, that is when we realize we can be happy even amidst the trials.

What have we been up to?
