Marriage conference?

We had an awesome marriage conference last night at church. It was really great! I think my favorite things I learned were the following:

*Do you want to be right, and hold on to that stubborn pride,OR do you want to be married?

The stake President Naff told the most interesting story about his wife. He said she is an immaculate housekeeper. She refuses to go to bed without washing the dishes. (I am the same way!) Well one night he came home at 1130pm from a bishopric meeting, and walked into the kitchen and the dishes were not done. He said as exhausted as I was, the first thought that came to my mind was.....she must have had a really rough night. He put his things down, and as tired as he was, he washed the dishes for her.

I just bawled like a baby! He said find ways to submit your will for his/her will. Love and cherish your spouse. This is a team effort, not just an "I'm right, your wrong". Your love grows for your spouse as you serve them. I really needed to hear this. I think most of all. He said DO NOT KEEP SCORE!It is not always going to be evenly distributed, actually NEVER will it be evenly distributed. Each spouse will at times carry more of the load. It is not a competition. It is a team effort, this family thing.

I am also reading this new book my girlfriend Beth sent to me. It is awesome! It is called...Date night in a mini-van By: Loralee Cracker. It is really good. I am still struggling with TOTAL, ABSOLUTE CONTROL. I want to hand over control, now that Pres is home, but I am so used to it. It is harder than I thought. PLus I am probably one of the most stubborn people you will ever MEET! I am my father's daughter!

We learned quite a bit last night. We went to a class called Disruptive behaviors, and another class called continued courtship. Wow they were both eye opening. I will have to tell you more about both of them. Blogging time is up for today though. Love yall! :)

FINALLY! A new post! that's good information - i don't know why we can't just figure things out ourselves - we all really know when we are being prideful or stubborn - but we have to have someone else tell us in a very subtle and nice way to stop it. life is a trip for sure - and it's so much nicer when you are getting along with your spouse! and it's a choice! to be happy!
