Following counsel with Exactness!

Okay so sorry I didn't do this sooner. I am still digesting it myself. Derek and Colten were on the scout camp hike all last week. When the boys got home, they showered and sat in front of the tv. They had been home a couple of hours, and then Colten said Oh yeah, guess what happened mom. I immediately said if you are lying I am gonna be VERY angry! He said he woke up to someone pulling his sleeping bag. He didn't even open his eyes. He just assumed it was Derek. The second time Colten opened his eyes and this very lovely Grizzly bear cub ( a cub that weighs over 200 lbs.) was pulling on Colten's sleeping bag. Colten said he played dead like you are supposed to. Then he jumped out of his sleeping bag and went in the scout leaders tent. There was another bear trying to get in the bear proof box where they keep their food. There was a hole in the bottom of Colten's sleeping bag. The leaders are required to try and scare the bears away with flares first, then shoot second. The bears scared off with the flares. FREAKING SCARY!!!!!!!! I am glad that the scout leader caught this pic as the bear was leaving. What a great story for his journal right? Colten had hidden some candy in his sleeping bag. So the bear was after the candy. So tonight we are having a lesson for Family Home Evening on what else, but Following Counsel with Exactness! Colten knew the rules, and thought just a little candy wouldn't hurt. Sometimes like we all do with whatever we are struggling with. Perhaps me and my music. I sometimes think...just a little won't hurt, but if you follow the counsel with EXACTNESS then you will be protected. Thank goodness Colten is okay. They also watched a full size grizzly bear pull a salmon out of the water and eat it. Wow the things these boys are getting to experience. I am jealous, but then again sometimes I am not :) Love yall!

sounds like your boys have been having lots of fun. That is so scary to have a bear do that. We had one cross in front of us up by pinelake a while back and it was scary. All the kids are getting so big I can't believe it. Where did the time go?? Darren is loving football and staying busy. Shaylee wishes she would have signed up but, she didn't think they would let her. Milford has a girl on their team though so she should be able to play. She just can't wait for basketball and I think volleyball is coming up soon for her, she doesn't really care what she does as long as its sports. The younger two dakota and sidney well sidney is the dancer in the family and that will be starting for her next week and dakota just does basketball and baseball. Well I better get back to work. Keep in touch. Love, angie & Cody

You have no idea how long I wanted to know what happened with this story! Daniel has asked me quiet frequently if you've posted anything yet. And at the end of it all I have to say is OH MY GOODNESS! How amazing that nothing too horrible happened. (For me that would have been horrible but I could see why the boys would have thought that was cool)! Colten definitely has someone looking out for him!

What have we been up to?
