When you ask why me?

I was reading this awesome book called "Five scriptures that will get you through almost anything....when times are tough", by John Bytheway. I absolutely adore the guy! He came to our church camp EFY when I was 14. He is an amazing speaker. Well anyways....in this book......here is one of my favorite parts....okay a few:

***Brother Truman Madsen once asked President Hugh B Brown why the Lord would put Abraham through the horrible experience of t hinking that he had to sacrifice his own son. Abraham had been promised numerous seed that would bless all of the families of the world, yet he was asked to sacrifice his only son! Obviously God knew Abraham's heart. God knew that Abraham would be willing to do anything he was commanded. So why did the Lord put Abraham through such a test? President Brown answered, "Abraham needed to learn something about Abraham." President George Q Cannon agreed:
Now, why did the Lord ask such things of Abraham? Because, knowing what his future would be and that he would be the father of an innumerable posterity, he was determined to test him. God did not do this for His own sake; for He knew by His foreknowledge what Abraham would do; but the purpose was to impress upon Abraham a lesson, and to enable him to attain unto knowledge that he could not obtain any other way. That is why God tries all of us. It is not for His own knowledge; for He knows all things beforehand. He knows all your lives and everything you will do. But He tries us for our own good, that we may know for ourselves; for it is most important that a man should know himself.

God knows what we are made of, but perhaps he wants us to learn for ourselves what we are made of. When we grow through our own adversity, we become a tool in the Lord's hands to help others through their problems.

I was so excited about this that I couldn't wait for vinyl lettering to put on my mirror....I took my eyeliner and wrote on my mirror in my bathroom...... Abraham needed to learn something about Abraham. It is so simple, yet so amazing. I love it. I got this book off of half.com. I am so impressed with it I am going to give you the link. It even has a section for marriage, which is ALSO amazing. Definitely on my must read list.
P.S. I just ordered the latest book from Dean Hughes............it is a the latest from the series of children of the promise. I thought he was done writing, so I am VERY excited! :)
