Pres gave an awesome talk in church today. He told them all about the training the army has given him, and told him the army had prepared him to deploy. He then said but it is up to you to spiritually prepare yourself. He shared these two scriptures:
Doctrine & Covenants 35:13 &14 & 19
13. Wherefore, I call upon the weak things of the world, those who are unlearned and despised, to thrash the nations by the power of my Spirit;
14. And their arm shall be my arm, and I will be their shield and their buckler; and I will gird up their loins, and they shall fight manfully for me; and their enemies shall be under their feet; and I will let fall the sword in their behalf, and by the fire of mine indignation will I preserve them.
19. Wherefore, watch over him that his faith fail not, and it shall be given by the Comforter, the Holy Ghost, that knoweth all things.
Wow his talk was powerful. He talked about trusting in the Lord for your comfort instead of the many vices the soldiers fall into. He said your training can only take you so far.....trust in the Lord.
After church the bishop gave Pres a beautiful blessing. It seemed very similiar to the blessing that Dad gave me before he passed away. Dad talked about Preston a lot in the last blessing that he gave me. Pres bore his testimony today also.....he amazes me.

i cannot worry about a man who is so close to our Heavenly Father. Because if he is in His hands . . . what could be better? Surely wish i could have been there for his talk and testimony. guess you didn't video it. yeah right.

This made me feel humbled and happy to read!! You are such an amazing wife for the love and support you give Preston! What an amazing Husband he is for all he does for this country! I love you Katy! We'll pray for your family!
Katy, I know for a fact that we were supposed to be up here before Ryan deployed. And I know the Lord has guided us to meet you. I am so grateful we were blessed with the opportunity to get to know you and your amazing family. Thank you for your sweet testimony and for always being there. You are one amazing woman and I pray that I let military life be as much a missionary experience as you have. Thanks and please let me know if there is anything we can do for you. We love you and your family and will keep you in our prayers! :)
