Okay I had to take pics so you would truly understand, and not just think I was over exaggerating. The first pic is all the hooks I put behind the door. There are about six on each board. The second pic is about a couple feet from all those hooks. All the coats, and backpacks on the floor. Colten, Jake, and Travis......are you kidding me! :)

No joke I have 4 hooks behind our front door also. My floor looks just like yours. I even hung the hooks where Kelsey can reach them, And put a bench with shoe slots. Guess where the shoes are, either in front of the slots on the floor or on top of the bench.
wow! i have the same problem and I have had hooks on the wall for 2 years! and they STILL throw them on the floor or the couch! and I remind them everyday...hang it up! grrr. I feel your frustration! glad it's not just at my house!
