Rhonda can do it, so why can't I ?

Okay so my friend Rhonda is from Texas too. She drives there all the time. She gets up at 5am, and just puts the kids in the car and makes an ice chest full of snacks and drinks. She drives all the way through the 10-11 hour drive in one shot! I cannot do it to save my life! Her kids are 5, 3, and 2. Mine are 13, 11, 7, 4. I should be able to do this! Well needless to say we made it only to Gainesville, Texas. Just barely 45 minutes past the Texas border. But the fun part is that the hotel we stopped at was brand spankin' new! I only like to stay at La Quinta Inn and Suites because I like to earn those free nights! I actually wrote an amazing compliment email to the lady that helped us sign in. She upgraded me from the regular suite to the bigger suite at no additional cost. It was 10pm, and the kids had been in the car all day, and were WIRED! Well the pool was already closed, but she said why don't you bring them down and let them swim till the end of her shift @ 11pm. She said "honey there is no way you are going to get those boys to go to sleep after that long of a drive, bring them down and let them burn off some of that energy!" I was so happy and thankful for her thoughtfulness. I seriously teared up! So we hustled up to the room. The boys were in absolute AWE of the two plasma screen tv's in our rooms! Then we swam for a quite a while. It was perfect. Then she brought us chocolate muffins, and water bottles. She was amazing. I told her that I hope that someone goes the extra mile for her like she did for me that night. I think it is so fun to compliment people. I love watching them smile. I think sometimes we forget to write up those comment cards when it is a good visit. Most of the time it is only when something was wrong. Plus another funny part of our trip is that I was looking for a formal dress, and I wanted one that I had seen at Ross, so needless to say the boys and I stopped at every single Ross that we could see from the freeway from Kansas to Texas! One of the many stops included Jake saying...Mom didn't we already stop at this store? The older boys were like DUH! only 10 times today! I can't believe how much joy comes from annoying my children sometimes!

It is amazing how ONE person can make such a difference. What a nice lady. Just on a side note...I did the 18 hour drive in 2 days. 10 hours the first day and 8 the second. And with a 5 year old, 2 year and 1 year old....You could totally do it if you had a TV in your car. Seriously girl. I can't believe with all the traveling you do you don't have one....hmmm maybe I will tell Santa Claus you need one.

I don't know why I keep putting off the tv in the car thing. You know I am a perfectionist, and it has to be installed correctly, and I keep thinking that I don't want them to "have" to have a tv to travel. I don't know. Maybe you are right!

What have we been up to?
