Our ward family temple trip to Omaha, Nebraska

Okay this is really funny. Most of the ward goes up Saturday morning, early, and I mean early! Then everyone just drives home Saturday night very late. I decided to go up the night before with a bunch of friends and get a hotel room. Well I reserved my room a little late, and ended up staying two miles down the road from everyone else in another Holiday Inn Express. Who knew there were so many in one area? I had a huge migraine that morning, and wasn't sure if I could make the drive, but thank goodness we did. It was a blast. They didn't have any double rooms left, so we got a King size executive suite. Wow! The tub was as big as a jacuzzi! It could have fit ten people. So I rented a movie for the kids, and then locked myself in with my dream tub! Well then the next morning the wake up call I requested never came, so needless to say we were late! We barely made it to the temple in time. Brother Easterling happened to be in the parking lot when I pulled up and said let me take care of the kids, you run before you miss your session. I was so happy! Well I ended up doing sealings instead, and then stayed in the celestial room longer than the others, and when I came out I couldn't cross the street because the sprinklers were on. It was extremely windy, so I stood there trying to figure out how to hold my dress down. Then this man came running out of the temple yelling at me, asking if I had forgotten my diamonds?! I always leave my wedding rings in the bathroom. Very bad habit I have. So I was very happy that the sprinklers had held me up! Then when I got across the street finally I realized that I didn't have the keys to my van because I had given them to Derek as I had gotten out of the van. Everyone else had already left. I was just about to get hysterical! Then this lady that I recognized from our ward pulled into the parking lot asking for directions. I had never actually spoken to her, but I ran over to her van and said hey I know where you need to go, and can I get a ride! Thank you thank you thank you! Heavenly Father was looking out for me this day! So many things tried to go wrong, but everything worked. It was a beautiful day. We all drove home in a big long line! It is about 4 1/2 hours. It doesn't seem that bad though. I love our ward temple trips, and although I have only been in this ward since January 2007, I absolutely love all of them. This ward is seriously stacked with the most amazing people. They are awesome! Well that was our trip to Omaha! We do it every three months.

What a beautiful temple! That is neat that your ward goes together on trips- I don't realize how spoiled we are to live just down the street from a temple and how easy it is for us to go.

Is the Omaha Temple a mini Temple? I'm guessing yes since it looks a lot like ours in Raleigh. That trip sounds so fun and your windy skirt story reminds me that I flashed probly 50 people at the mall Wednesday. Same thing... windy day skirt kept blowing up. That and Owen kept pulling it up :)

That is great that you are in such a good ward. I'm sure that is a great help while Pres is away. Sounds like a good trip except for the migraine part...

katy, what a busy life you have and yet you seem to make the best of it and get the important things done. like going to the temple with your boys. what a great example that is to them - to know how important it is to attend the temple even tho' it is far away.

What have we been up to?
