Okay I always say this, but this is one of my FAVORITES...

I wanted something different underneath the tv since my hubby decided to hang our tv on the wall. I had been watching for a while, and wanted something chunky. I saw this one on Craigs List for only $50. I was dragging my feet because I wasn't sure how to pick it up and bring it home. My good friends finally gave me the push I needed, and we went to pick it up. It was so crazy heavy that we couldn't even move it an inch! I called the missionaries to come help us. It was a DOOZY even trying to get it out of the house. The lady was so glad to get rid of it. The missionaries were laughing at me cuz they thought it was so UGLY, and so were my friends. Well I brought it home, and got out the reciprocating saw and started cutting the bookcase part off. If I had a video of us attempting this you would laugh hysterically, and probably be a little scared at the same time....especially since I had never used one of these tools before. We finally got the top off, and then I wanted the molding that had been on top of the bookcase. I wanted it to be on top of my cabinet. We had to get a board for $20 from Lowe's because it was hollow up top. I didn't expect that, but it worked out. We used wood glue to it down, and then I tapped finish nails in as well. I liked the way it made it look a little more rustic. I used KILZ primer. I put two coats of Valspar turquoise. I do NOT recommend using this fabulous color. The paint is very thin and runs easy. I don't like that brand at all. I made it work, and it didn't need to be perfect because that is the great thing about putting glaze over the top of it. :) I mixed my own glaze. One part paint to four parts glaze. I paint it on in small areas and leave it on for a minute or two, and then wipe off with a rag. I painted the hardware with oil rubbed bronze. I coated it with polyurathane spray paint just because I have four boys...enough said right? I love the way it turned out! I emailed a finished picture to the lady I bought it from , and she said she wanted it back. Even the missionaries were impressed!
